Description | We are searching for a forward thinking, enthusiastic, experienced farm vet to join Westpoint Farm Vets in Chelmsford. Come join our team of six 100% farm vets and two administrative assistants. We are ambulatory, but work out of a lovely office in Chatham Green, (with fields behind for exercising the office dogs). We spend a lot of time on the road, as we cover a large part of East Anglia, so you are entitled to a company car (that you can use privately too). We recently won the small practice SPVS and RCVS Mind Matters Veterinary Wellbeing Award. We are committed to enhancing the wellbeing of our colleagues; being a vet is not always easy, so we do everything we can to promote flexibility, support and teamwork to help everyone make the best of the tougher times. Our work is among the most varied a farm job can be – you would see everything from commercial dairy, beef, sheep, pigs, poultry and camelids, to smaller-scale, hobby farming, multi-species open farms and pet farm animals. We do our own TB testing (LRA), product and animal export work, and where possible, are supportive of further education e.g. certificates. We do routine fertility work, health planning and plenty of individual animal work, with a high surgical caseload. If you are interested in teaching and veterinary education, we also take on farm rotation students from the University of Surrey. Most of the year is on a 1:5 rota, which will alter with an expanding team, but we double-up on weekends from January through May to cater for a busy calving and lambing season. A weekend on call entitles you to a day in lieu, and we reward second on call with a day working from home. Chelmsford is great for going out, shopping, dining out and cinema (and we do a lot of cinema), you’re never far from a good country pub, we’re close to great beaches (many dog friendly year-round), and Essex is a hub for watersports and biking (Olympic facilities, don’t you know!). We’ve got fast access to London, and it’s not far from the stunning Suffolk Coast for a bit of time out. Essex has just about everything; it’s a fantastic place to live and work. Westpoint Farm Vets is a large group – all vets are part of clinical working groups depending on their particular interests; contributing to progressive medicine and practice. We are also part of VetPartners, which gives you access to industry experts (such as in laboratories, and pig and poultry practices) and many employee benefits such as:
Salary is commensurate with experience. There is scope within this role to develop your career in many different ways, so if you’re looking to work in a progressive environment with supportive colleagues who value a team ethic, please give us a call (01306 628 489) for more details, or email ami.sawran@westpointfarmvets.co.uk with a CV and covering letter. | |
