CountySomerset
LocalitySouth West
Description

Due to the rapid growth of our group, we have created a new role of Surgery Support Advisor to support our Practice Principals in the operational management of their business through acting as immediate helpdesk.

The Surgery Support Advisor will be the first point of call dealing with queries, making sure all requests are dealt with each week and presenting the decision points to the Business Support Managers and Operations Managers where appropriate.

The helpdesk will help practices where they need assistance with orders of supplies, providing advice on completing capex requests, assisting with finance issues, helping facilitate routine queries and providing feedback for the Business Support Managers (BSM).

The role is new and therefore will evolve over time.

At present, this work will involve the following:

· Liaise closely with the Practice Principal(s) to ensure that they remain contented, motivated and informed. This is essentially a supportive role which leaves decision-making in the hands of the Practice Principal(s) and BSMs. The Helpdesk can offer advice to Principals within their remit and communicate any concerns to the BSM or Operations Managers.

· Assist practices in enabling them to follow or adopt group policies and procedures as appropriate. The Surgery Support Advisor can and will discuss things such as group procurement agreements, HR policies and help the Practice Principal(s) to understand why they are relevant, how they can implement and where there are concerns, attempt to find a solution which respects the needs of both the practice and Independent Vetcare. If this is not possible, feed back to the BSM.

· Respect the clinical freedom of each clinician within ethical and clinical governance guidelines.

· Be aware of the business development activities.

· Human Resources – the Practice Principal(s) is responsible for HR management within his/her area. The Helpdesk may coordinate queries, introduce The Employment Advisory Service and pass on to the BSM or recruitment team.

· Health and Safety – The Helpdesk may coordinate queries relating to the H&S manual and pass on anything further to the H&S support officer

· Provide assistance in sign posting the Practice Principal(s) to correct people, departments or documents they may require

Competencies required:

· Excellent communication skills

· Ability to analyse problems and develop flexible, creative solutions

· Basic appreciation of HR and Health and Safety

· Preferable - knowledge of the veterinary sector and market
