BSAVA delivers new online CPD courses at members’ request

BSAVA has listened to what members want with the introduction of its new programme of online CPD BSAVA Learn Online. The series of ten courses, to commence in January 2020, will provide nine hours of CPD each month and will cover a breadth of topics. https://www.bsava.com/Education/CPD/Learn-Online

The courses, which have been designed in response to a member survey conducted earlier this year, will deliver CPD at a time convenient to members – so that whether they are on a night shift or working in a different time zone they won’t miss out.

“We are really excited to be launching BSAVA Learn Online,” said BSAVA Head of Education Lucie Goodwin. “We have developed the courses in response to our survey to ensure we meet the diverse and varied CPD needs of the veterinary community in a cost effective way. Our survey told us you wanted bite sized content, webinars, quizzes, forums and interactive tasks – our courses contain all of these and more. We have ten courses aimed at vets in 2020 and are already working on the 2021 programme to include content for nurses too.”

The subjects have been chosen in light of the member survey responses and clear learning objectives are provided to help with planning and to ensure that the right course is chosen for each objective.

Every course will run with a live forum for three weeks (with material available for a total of eight weeks) and contain online activities to enable delegates to engage regularly during the learning process. Short webinars are included to help delegates dip in and out of the CPD at their convenience.

The courses are interactive and personable, with an opportunity to ‘virtually’ meet the speaker via video presentations. A discussion forum facilitates peer-to-peer conversations as well as providing an opportunity for delegates to ask the speaker questions.

BSAVA also provided some additional resources to complement the courses. The BSAVA Bonus Bits will include some Congress podcast recordings and some Companion articles as well as a FREE book chapter from the BSAVA manual most relevant to the course.

The BSAVA Learn Online topics for 2020 are:

·      January: Allergic skin disease – approach, diagnosis and treatment – Sue Paterson

·      February: Getting to grips with thoracic radiology – Frances Barr

·      March: Coughing dogs - Jenny Reeve
