 Vets scoops Dechra competition prize

A veterinary surgeon from Hertfordshire has won a £250 voucher from Dechra Veterinary Products after learning more about a new product to treat dogs with Addison’s Disease.

Emily Cross, a Partner at Vets4Pets’ Watford Century branch, won the prize to spend at John Lewis at the British Small Animal Veterinary Association Congress in Birmingham. She correctly answered questions on Dechra’s product range including Zycortal®, the only licensed European treatment for canine hypoadrenocorticism (Addison’s Disease) as well as other products from the endocrine range.

Zycortal was officially unveiled to the UK market at the Congress last month and Craig Sankey, Brand Manager at Dechra Veterinary Products, said they had been delighted with the response.

“We were able to illustrate to many veterinary professionals who visited our stand how we can help them in the treatment of this complex condition. Addison’s disease can be very hard to diagnose as it mimics so many other illnesses.

“Each injection of Zycortal lasts approximately one month, providing long-term control of primary Addison’s disease. The prognosis for dogs with Addison’s disease is excellent provided that treatment is maintained for life. Our team was able to explain and discuss the benefits that Zycortal can bring to a vet’s day to day management of the illness.”
